Casey Stoner remained on top for the second practice at the German Grand Prix. The Ducati rider managed to improve on his morning pace by around three tenths of a second whilst the rest of the pack led by Valentino Rossi struggled to come to terms with his best lap from first practice.
Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa was just behind the Fiat Yamaha rider in third whilst in fourth was Sylvain Guintoli, who is continuing to shine at the Sachsenring circuit. Carlos Checa and Marco Melandri made up the top six. Alex Barros shook off the scare of his earlier crash to take seventh ahead of Colin Edwards on the second Fiat Yamaha.
John Hopkins and Randy de Puniet completed the top ten, despite both exploring the gravel traps early in the session. Nicky Hayden struggled to find form on his Repsol Honda and was a distant 17th with his bike stopping on the main straight on his last lap.
