Qualifying got underway in Assen at a very wet track. Randy de Puniet showed an incredible performance qualifying himself on the front row. But Honda Gresini rider Marco Melandri also did great. He qualified himself in fourth position for Saturday's Dutch Grand Prix.
Rossi was unable to make any progress today. The Italian struggled in the rain and was only able to qualify himself in 11th position.
