Rossi fastest in final practice

Valentino Rossi is back on the pace. In the final seconds of Friday's free practice the Italian Yamaha rider completed the fastest lap. He was just a fraction ahead of championship leader Casey Stoner. Championship defender Nicky Hayden was third.

Under cloudy conditions Friday's free practice session got underway at the Dutch TT-circuit in Assen.

Tech 3 Yamaha has also been doing surprisingly well with Makoto Tamada. He ended 6th in today's free practice.
