Ducati rider Casey Stoner has won the British Grand Prix at Donington Park. Stoner was clearly the fastest rider out on track. Colin Edwards, who started from pole position, finished in second. Chris Vermeulen finished in third. The Rizla Suzuki rider was able to overtake Valentino Rossi with four laps to go.

When the British Grand Prix got underway at 13.00 the track was still damp. It was Colin Edwards who was the first to dive into the first corner. His Yamaha team-mate Valentino Rossi didn't have such a strong start. Rossi, who started from 2nd position, lost a few positions in the opening lap and was racing in fourth.

Dani Pedrosa enjoyed a strong start. He moved up to second, right behind Colin Edwards. After a couple of laps though Pedrosa lost his pace and was unable to fight for his positions. He fell back to eighth position.

Casey Stoner moved up the field and soon overtook race leader Colin Edwards. Edwards was unable to keep up with the Ducati rider and settled for second place.

Valentino Rossi moved up to third place, but with less than ten laps to go Chris Vermeulen was closing in on the Italian. Four laps before the end of the race Vermeulen overtook Rossi to take third position.

The next Grand Prix will take place next Saturday in Assen, The Netherlands.
