Edwards takes pole at Donington Park
23 June 2007 / ResultsYamaha rider Colin Edwards will start Sunday's British Grand Prix at Donington Park from pole position. In the final minutes Edwards was able to beat Valentino Rossi's team and thus we'll see both Yamaha riders start from the front row on Sunday. Repsol Honda riders Pedrosa and Hayden will start from third and fourth, while Casey Stoner didn't make it much further than fifth.
In the first part of qualifying Casey Stoner was the fastest man out at Donington Park. For a long time his fastest time of 1.29.001 was unbeaten. Rossi was right behind Stoner in second.
With around fifteen minutes to go the entire MotoGP field entered the pitlane to get their qualifying tyres. With ten minutes to go Rossi snachted pole position. In the meantime Toni Elias had to give up in qualifying as his Honda suffered from technical problems.
In the final minutes various riders were close to Rossi's qualifying time, but only Colin Edwards was able to improve it and get him pole position for Sunday's race.
