Pedrosa fastest in opening practice

Spaniard Daniel Pedrosa set the fastest time this morning at home Grand Prix at Circuit de Catalunya. For a long time John Hopkins was the fastest man out on track, but right before the end of the session Pedrosa managed to beat the Rizla Suzuki rider's time.

Repsol Honda rider Pedrosa completed four stints in the one hour practice session. At the end of the session he was half a second faster than championship leader Casey Stoner and Toni Elias.

Valentino Rossi finished the session in sixth.
