Ilmor plans MotoGP test

04 June 2007

The Ilmor MotoGP team might make its return to the track for testing very soon as the team is developing an improved V4 engine for their XR3 MotoGP bike. The team pulled out after the first race in the 2007 season, but is still trying to return somewhere this season.

"We have one or two pieces of data to check before we go testing," Ilmor director Steve Miller told Crash.net. "It relates to the chassis geometry and some engine parts."

Both Andrew Pitt and Jeremy McWilliams are scheduled to test the improved Ilmor bike.

But the team is still uncertain about its return to the MotoGP series. "Obviously time is running out for us to get everyone on board for a return to MotoGP for 2007," Miller said. "But we are very much in the sponsorship hunt, although the focus is beginning to shift to 2008."
