Stoner confident for Sunday's race

18 May 2007

Casey Stoner will start his Le Mans weekend today alongside the other MotoGP riders in France. The Australian is confident he can show a good performance at the famous Le Mans track this weekend and believes his bike is strong enough at every type of track to race for podium positions.

Speaking about this weekend's Le Mans Grand Prix Stoner said: "All but one race that I've had here I've finished fourth I believe, but with the improvements I've had with my tyres I really think that we can push up the places."

Unlike the Shanghai track where Stoner won his last MotoGP race two weeks ago the track in Le Mans does not have a long straight for the Ducati's to take their advantage. But it doesn't worry Stoner. "I didn't really have an advantage at Jerez or Turkey, and we went well there, which shows that we don't just depend on long straights.
