Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa was the fastest man in today's first free practice session at Le Mans. He was just ahead of Valentino Rossi and team-mate Nicky Hayden. Fonsi Nieto made his MotoGP debut, he completed 25 laps but was the slowest rider on track so far.

On the opening session in France the Michelin riders dominated the session. The four fastest rider are all Michelin clients. Casey Stoner was the fastest rider on Bridgestone tyres. The Australian Ducati rider set the fifth fastest time.

It could become an interesting weekend in France as the top ten riders were within a second.
