Melandri fastest on first day at Le Mans
18 May 2007 / Results / PhotosMarco Melandri has set the fastest time on the opening day of the French Grand Prix at Le Mans. The Italian set his fastest lap time at 1.35.319. He was slightly faster than Dani Pedrosa and Carlos Checa.
Practice at Le Mans continued in the afternoon. The Ducati riders seem to miss their top speed advantage at Le Mans. Casey Stoner set the sixth fastest time, almost 90 second slower than Melandri. His team-mate Capirossi set the ninth time on the clocks.
At Yamaha Valentino Rossi seemed to take things easy. The Italian was not even seen in the top ten. Colin Edwards though showed there was nothing to worry about as Edwards set a fourth fastest time with the Yamaha bike.
At Repsol Honda there is one man who cannot find his pace. Nicky Hayden was 17th and his difficult season doesn't seem to end.
