Stoner storms to Shanghai win

Casey Stoner stormed to victory in China aboard his Ducato to beat pole sitter Valentino Rossi to the flag and extend his championship lead to 15 points. Stoner took the lead at the start of the second lap and never looked back.

Rossi stayed in touch, but on lap 16 ran wide and that was all the breathing room that Stoner needed to seal the deal as they came home first and second, separated by three seconds. It was Stoner's third victory of the season.

John Hopkins scooped third - his first visit to the podium. The only other drama in the race came when Nicky Hayden had a big spin on lap two but recovered to finish the race in twelfth.
