Barros hopeful for Chinese Grand Prix
27 April 2007After a poor start to the season by Pramac d'Antin's expectations, the team showed signs of improvement after Alex Barros claimed fourth place at the Turkish Grand Prix. Barros even came close to getting on the podium as he finished only just behind Loris Capirossi. The team was also encouraged by a positive day of testing on Monday at the Istanbul circuit. The Brazilian is now hopeful of maintaining that form at the Chinese Grand Prix on 6 May and feels his best chances are by securing a good gird slot.
Alex Barros commented: "I can't make any prediction because I run only one time in 2005 at Shanghai's circuit and I haven't a lot of data at my disposal. I remember that my performance was good in spite of driving rain. This circuit's structure is really good and imposing, it's stimulating to ride there. The real problem is that the track's too narrow and we'll have some difficulties to overtake the others, it will be really important to get a good qualifying practice and to start from the lead positions pushing at the maximum in the straight. Our DUCATI GP7 is fast in the straight, but to aim the podium we need also to shorten bend's time. After Istanbul's results, I'm more confident; I'm waiting to arrive to Shanghai to analyze the track and find the best possible bike's set-up. I hope to be able to have another exciting race."
