Kawasaki riders Olivier Jacques and Randy de Puniet had a tough time in the Spanish Grand Prix last weekend, but on Monday the duo were fast underway. They set the two fastest lap times at a wet Jerez.
The weather wasn't as good as it was on Sunday in Jerez. It was cold and raining for most of the day. Jacques set the fastest time at 1.51.422, a tenths of a second faster than his team-mate De Puniet. Suzuki rider Chris Vermeulen was third. The winner of the race on Sunday, Valentino Rossi, was searching for more power in his bike. The Italian set the seventh fastest time.
Hopkins was not testing today. The American fell from his bike on Sunday and still has problems with his wrist. Loris Capirossi was also absent today. He is at home with his wife who will give birth to their baby this week.
