Pedrosa happy with second

Dani Pedrosa is still happy to have finished the race in Jerez in second place although he had a fantastic opportunity to take the chequered flag in front of his home crowd having started on pole. Unfortunately for the Spanish fans their hero was passed by five-time world champion Valentino Rossi on the opening lap and was unable to find a way past. 

"It was fastastic because we had a good weekend," Pedrosa told Italia1 television. 

"The bike was good but the race was difficult. Valentino pushed hard all through the race so it was tough for me to keep up with his pace but I endeavoured to finish second. Rossi had a very strong race, he was better, but I'm content because I was on the podium both in Qatar and here. I apologise to the fans here, because I'm certain they wanted me to win, but the public here is supportive of every rider here, no matter what nationality he is."
