Checa fastest in final Jerez practice

24 March 2007 / Results / Photos

Carlos Checa was fastest in the final practice before qualifying in Jerez with a best lap of 1:40.659s. The Honda LCR driver has now been fastest in two of the three practice sessions and will fancy his chances in front of his home crowd when the MotoGP riders challenge for pole at 13.00 today.

The other two Spanish riders, Dani Pedrosa and Toni Elias, also gave Spain hope by finishing the session third and sixth fastest respectively.

Alex Barros took his Pramac d'Antin to second place and was just two tenths slower than Checa. John Hopkins was half a second adrift in fifth place. The in-form and championship leader Casey Stoner was ninth quickest whilst Valentino Rossi was unusually down the order in eighteenth place.
