Roberts fastest, Melandri second in opening practice
23 March 2007 / ResultsKenny Roberts jr. was the fastest rider during this morning's first free practice session at Jerez. He was ahead of Marco Melandri and Casey Stoner. Nicky Hayden was doing well in fourth, while Valentino Rossi came in eigtht.
In Jerez de la Frontera the first European round of the MotoGP 2007 World Championship went underway under sunny circumstances. Kenny Roberts jr. surprised a few when he clocked this morning's fastest time.
The Honda Gresini riders looked strong this morning. Marco Melandri set the second fastest time, while his team-mate Tony Elias clocked the fifth fastest lap time.
