First official practice: strong start for Edwards

Fiat Yamaha rider Colin Edwards was the fastest in this morning's first official free practice session at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar. The American rider set the fastest time at 1.56.665.

After months of testing the MotoGP season got underway this morning at Qatar. Yahama rider Colin Edwards was well ahead of the rest. Ducati rider Casey Stoner was this morning's second fastest driver with Valentino Rossi close behind. 2006 World champion Nicky Hayden could not be found in front of the field. He finished in sixteenth position and completed 23 laps.
