Checa ends Qatar test in top ten
16 February 2007 / Results / PhotosThursday was the third and final day of Official Test in Qatar for the MotoGP riders involved in the 2007 championship. The MotoGP teams continued their development of the 800cc machines trying to find a good pace for this track which will host the first race of the season next 10 of March. Although the rain after day one left the track in difficult conditions, the 800cc riders were able to lap on qualifiers.
The Spanish Honda LCR rider Carlos Checa put in 83 laps continuing his adaptation process to the new machine. Carlos rode also a race simulation with good results and he is looking forward to next three-days test session in Jerez on the 23, 24 and 25 of February to continue the set-up work with his technical staff.
Checa commented on his final day of testing in Qatar: "I know that today's result is not so positive compared to Pedrosa's best lap time but I feel pretty satisfied about these days' work. Honestly we still have to improve on qualifying tyres but the pace we got on this machine makes me very confident for the beginning of the season."
"Since the first test in Sepang last November we have been working very hard to find the right direction to go and I can easily say the things are going in the right way. Today I rode also a race simulation and the feeling with the bike is getting better day after day. Now we move to Jerez for the last test session before the season's kick off and we will use those days to fix up the last things."
