Checa hits sea gull
31 January 2007At Phillip Island Carlos Checa continued testing with his Honda LCR team. Sunny sky and 24 degrees air temperature could not make up for Checa's incident today. The Spaniard was hit by a sea gull.
Checa was able to go about his business for 100 laps topping the board with a 1'30.84 lap on his RC212V (one second faster than his yesterdays lap time!).
Tomorrow Carlos and his staff will face the third and last day of test at Phillip Island but will be back on track next 13, 14 and 15 of February at Losail circuit in Qatar.
Checa commented on today's test: "Today was much better! We worked to adjust the chassis and the suspensions setting to this track and we found a good base. In fact today I lapped constantly with a good pace improving my lap time of one second. We tested some Michelin tyres with pretty good results and now I feel more comfortable on the bike."
"I can easily say that the things are going in the right way and tomorrow we will focus on the engine adjustment and the electronic parts. These two days were pretty productive for us but the sad part regards the impact I had with a sea gull along the track this morning. It hit the wind screen of my bike and also my arm when I was lapping at 210kmh of speed. I couldn't' avoid it!"
